About the Senior Electrical Technician Role
The Senior Electrical Technician will support expansion project electrical activities, including pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and start-up tasks. The selected candidate will also conduct electrical field maintenance safely and efficiently.
The role covers preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, breakdown support, troubleshooting, documentation, and close-out reporting. The goal is to maintain reliability and availability of company assets across North, South, RLTO & Refining, Barzan, and NFE facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and start-up of new electrical equipment and facilities.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance work on field electrical equipment.
- Perform maintenance activities in the field and workshop according to safe work practices.
- Ensure materials and spare parts are available and in good condition before starting work.
- Follow approved maintenance procedures and ensure safe workplace controls are in place.
- Prepare accurate records and close-out reports for completed maintenance work.
- Participate in troubleshooting electrical field issues under the guidance of Foreman or Supervisor.
- Review technical documents such as P&IDs, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, electrical indexes, datasheets, and logic diagrams.
- Use calibrated and certified tools specific to the assigned job type.
- Ensure requirements for Intrinsic Safety are followed when applicable.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and report near misses, incidents, and accidents.
- Raise B-Safe and observation cards as part of safety reporting.
- Support troubleshooting of equipment failure and operational problems.
- Seek guidance from Maintenance Superintendent, Vendor, or OEM support for complex issues.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Secondary School education is required.
- Vocational training program such as TAFE is required after secondary education.
- Technical training in electrical maintenance or a related industrial discipline is preferred.
- Ability to understand maintenance procedures and technical documents.
- Ability to work safely in field and workshop environments.
Required Experience
Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience as a technician in the oil and gas industry or petrochemical industry. This experience should ideally include electrical maintenance, field equipment support, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and plant maintenance documentation.
